The Division of General Internal Medicine serves as the academic home to general internists on the faculty of NYU School of Medicine under the leadership of Sondra Zabar, MD.
The Division's core mission is to optimize the health outcomes of individuals and populations served by urban healthcare delivery systems through excellence in physician education, outstanding clinical care, and innovative research. Division of General Internal Medicine faculty are engaged in a wide-ranging program of extramurally funded research in core issues affecting the health of urban populations, including substance abuse, behavior change, chronic disease prevention and management, and evidence-based strategies for training future physicians to address these issues effectively themselves.
