The Division of General Internal Medicine has a large and growing portfolio of extramural funding. Core research domains include behavior change, medical education, comparative effectiveness, cost effectiveness, behavioral economics, informatics and e-technology, chronic disease and substance abuse prevention and treatment, communication, and immigrant health. Our goal is to become an integrated community of investigators that generates high impact research by bringing diverse approaches and methodologies to bear on advancing individual and population health, supported by such shared resources as practice based research networks, large observational databases, innovative educational assessment methodologies, virtual cohort studies and integrated research capacities across the IT platforms of our diverse hospital systems.
