Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism

The mission of the NYU Division of Endocrinology encompasses both basic and clinical research, the training of the next generations of Endocrine fellows, and the delivery of clinical care to patients at the three main teaching hospitals of NYU School of Medicine, with an emphasis on the care of underserved populations at the Endocrine and Diabetes clinics at Bellevue Hospital and the VA Medical Center New York. The division's Fellowship Training Program is one of the most sought after in the New York region. Its graduates have gone on to highly successful careers in academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and clinical practice.


Ira J. Goldberg, MD


Ira J. Goldberg, MD Ira J. Goldberg, MD was recently recruited to NYU Langone Medical Center as the Director of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Prior to this he was chief of the Division of Preventive Medicine and Nutrition and the Dickinson Richards Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Goldberg’s primary interests are in diabetes complications, lipoprotein disorders, and the pathogenesis of lipotoxic diseases. He has published over 200 articles and has co-authored chapters on lipid disorders in the 14th and 15th editions of Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine and the current edition of Williams Textbook of Endocrinology.
 

Ann Danoff, MD


Ann Danoff, MD Ann Danoff, MD is the Clinical Director and Fellowship Program Director of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. She is internationally recognized as an endocrine educator, currently serves as president of the Association of Program Directors in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, and is completing a 3-year term as chair of the Endocrine Society Board Review Course. In addition, she is section chief of the endocrinology division at the Manhattan VA Medical Center, where she is provides leadership for both in- and outpatients with endocrine disorders. 
 

Steven P. Hodak, MD


Steven P. Hodak, MDSteven P. Hodak, MD is a clinical Professor of Medicine and was recruited to NYU Langone Medical Center from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he was the director of clinical programs in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. As the Associate Director for Clinical Affairs of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Director of the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, and Chief of Endocrinology at Tisch Hospital, Dr. Hodak oversees an expanding hospital and faculty group practice in endocrinology. Dr. Hodak is an internationally recognized expert on thyroid disease and the use of molecular diagnostic tests for thyroid cancer.
