Dr. Eileen Janec is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine and is a gastroenterologist at the NYU Clinical Cancer Center, Joan H. Tisch Center for Women’s Health, and The Trinity Center, at NYU Langone Medical Center.
Board certified in Gastroenterology, Dr. Janec specializes in advanced endoscopy and the screening, prevention, diagnosis, staging, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, esophageal, gastric (stomach), pancreatic, and biliary cancers.
Dr. Janec is highly trained in performing advanced endoscopic procedures, such as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and fine-needle aspiration, therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatograpy (ERCP), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), stent placement, pancreatic cyst gastrostomy, as well as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.
A member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American Gastroenterological Association, Dr. Janec was also the recipient of the 2007 Excellence in Teaching Award from Dartmouth Medical College.
Dr. Janec received her advanced gastrointestinal endoscopy training at Washington University in St. Louis and her MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate at Brooklyn and her fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She practiced Gastroenterology at Dartmouth Medical College prior to joining the faculty at NYU Langone.
