Basic Research/Animal Study Kidney disease accelerates heart disease. People with even mild, asymptomatic kidney disease are at increased risk for heart disease. The precise mechanisms to explain this excess risk are not clear. In this animal-based study, we will determine the effect of HDL (“good cholesterol”) on the progression of atherosclerosis.
